If you’re a book-worm like me, you understand the joy of adding a new piece to your collection. Whether it’s fiction or a true story of a past event, transporting to a new world can help you escape reality in such magical ways.
Reading a gripping, gut-wrenching story can reach parts of your soul you don’t go to very often. Entering a magical realm can help you forget about your trials for a little while. A good book can exercise your emotions in a way not many other things can. A well-constructed plot can leave you asking for more. You can learn so much about the world and about yourself through reading.
I recently finished a book called Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks (highly recommend) and my life will never be the same. The idea that a number of words on a number of pages can bring that effect is addictive to me. The best part is, there’s something out there for everyone. The subject matters, genres and authors writing in various styles are endless.
There’s been debates about whether physical copies of books are better than digital or vice versa. I, for example, prefer physical copies, because I find the smell, the feel of the paper between my fingers delightful, but I understand why someone else might prefer an online copy or an audio version. As long as you get what you seek out of a piece, it doesn’t matter what format you access it in.
I invite you for an open conversation about your thoughts and preferences, maybe you can open my eyes to something I haven’t thought about. Also, if you have any recommendations for me, I welcome those with open arms. 🙂
